Tracy M. Grayson is an experienced, skilled, and aggressive trial attorney who has been practicing law for fifteen years. He is well-respected in the legal community and has an excellent rapport with his peers, including other attorneys, prosecutors, and judges throughout southern California. Mr. Grayson defends people against criminal charges in both state and federal courts, including charges involving fraud, theft, murder, drugs, DUI, domestic violence, Three Strike cases, and many others. He has successfully tried dozens of serious and violent felony and “life in prison” cases, including murders, attempted murders, and gang cases. Most of the cases he has tried have been victories–outright acquittals or not-guilty verdicts, acquittals on the heaviest charges, hung juries, or time served on the remaining charges.
In addition to Criminal Defense, Mr. Grayson oversees a Business Law Division to help businesses with corporate formations, contracts, litigation, asset protection, business startups and other business legal matters including Medical Marijuana Law (defending the rights of medical marijuana providers and legally protecting their assets).
Before going into private practice, Mr. Grayson served briefly as a deputy public defender in Oakland, California, and also as an investigator and law clerk in Contra Costa county. During his time with the public defender, he worked on dozens of murder and death penalty cases. After realizing that working as a public defender would not allow him to deliver the level of quality service he was committed to, he started the Law Offices of Tracy M. Grayson to deliver the passionate advocacy he knew clients were looking for in a private attorney.
When he is not representing clients, Mr. Grayson can be found working as an active participant in his community. He works with underprivileged children at a local high school through the Hueman Foundation, where he is a board member. Through the foundation, he conducts workshops where he teaches young adults about their basic rights under the United States Constitution (e.g., the Fifth Amendment right to remain silent). Also through the foundation, he helps sponsor a college tour of East Coast universities so that young athletes and others will have something to fall back on if their expected career in professional athletics does not work out as they had hoped. In keeping with his work as an attorney helping clients fight civil rights violations, Mr. Grayson has been active in the October 22nd Coalition Against Police Brutality and other civil rights organizations.
Born in Los Angeles, California and grewing up in the nearby cities of Compton and Carson, Mr. Grayson attended Banning High of Wilmington and went on to graduate from UCLA with a major in History and Economics. He continued his education by moving to the San Francisco Bay Area to attend the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley, where he earned a law degree.
In his spare time, Mr. Grayson enjoys tennis, snowboarding, basketball, music, comedy, writing/blogging, reading, history, travel, ethnic food, and learning to speak Spanish.
